 Barkley Seed handles and sells only Identity Preserved grain produced from Certified Seed. IDENTITY PRESERVED GRAIN — THE BARKLEY SEED BENCHMARK IDENTITY PRESERVED — HOW IT WORKS This union with WestBred provides us with the opportunity to closely monitor new varieties from their conception in research nurseries, to the final product in the field, through harvest and on to our customers. Our Identity Preserved program all begins with Certified Seed. What is Certified Seed? After researchers at WestBred select promising new varieties, seed for these varieties is then increased. This is accomplished through a series of closely monitored "generations", beginning with Foundation Seed, then Breeders Seed, followed by Registered Seed and, finally Certified Seed. It's a lengthy, time-intensive project, but well worth the effort. All commercial seed production is then done on a contractual basis. Our field representatives meet with farmers and establish growing agreements and schedules for upcoming seasons. Throughout the growing season Barkley Seed is actively involved in monitoring quality, timing and production. During harvest, Barkley Seed ensures that the variety and generation are securely preserved for future seed buyers. Grain production is done on a contractual basis. Growers purchase our Certified Seed and agree to grow a contracted amount of grain acreage for the upcoming season. The grain is then bought back on an Identity Preserved basis and stored at our facility according to variety and end-use characteristics. Here at Barkley Seed we monitor all of our products from even before the time the seed is planted to the time it is harvested. Careful logistical planning on the part of the Operations Division here at Barkley Seed has allowed us to monitor all of our products from seed breeding through grain delivery. We Certify It!
